Either you're the smartest person in the world, or you have it out for GC....lol.....I read this morning on the GMAN's site that GC DID pick up Bluefield for next year. Good Lord I respect the fact we'll play anybody, but next year could be ugly...lol

I would like to see Alcoa play that Gretna team that drilled Gate City last year.

AE and Fulton are the only local teams that will play Alcoa. Catholic,Farragut and some other big schools won't play them.

Coach Rankin has talked about going to Florida.

I saw Gretna this season. They have two big kids at the tackles, but other than that are very small and quick, but have some holes in their pass defense. Still a good team though. I would like to see their QB who is out though. State player of the year as a freshman last year and dislocated his ankle and broke the bottom part of his leg in a scrimmage.

I am glad GC scheduled this game. But the reality is South is at a different level than GC right now.

I live in GC and my daughter goes to High School in GC. I am a GC fan. But I hear all these GC people talk about GC like they can compete with South, DB, etc... There is a big difference in talent. It will be a really tough game for GC.

If what I read is true, and Richlands, Tazewell, South, and Bluefield are our out of district opponents next year....it could get ugly. I'm not sure we'll have the horses to do it, with having to rebuild almost all of our offense.

PV would also still be on there right?

GC will still have very solid skill position players next year, the line would probably be the big question mark to start the year.

I am all for playing a tough schedule. It makes you better. But this is taking it to a whole new level. It seems a little much. When you lose your QB and almost the entire OL. There could be a few long nights there for sure.

I think the only NETN team GC would have problems competing with on a regular basis is DB. South does have a very good team but IMO NETN ball just isn't very strong for the most part and GC has shown over and again they can more than compete. Plus South loses a lot of talent this season also.

    Re: GC vs. South 2009-10

Who has GC beaten from NET to prove they can compete?

I think GC has a awesome program. If you compare the # of students GC and PV have probably done better than anyone in NET and SWV.

But I played at GC up till my eigth grade year. I transfered to DB. We played the South's, TN.High's, Betsy's, Greenville's, Johnson City's. There is a wide gap in talent. I know. Sure there are certain players that could play anywhere. But after the top three or four kids there is a huge dropoff.

    Re: GC vs. South 2009-10

South will still be loaded next year. Coach Carter has built a very strong program. We're hoping to get to the Maryville game again this year. That is now our measuring stick. We competed with them last year but they separated from us towards the end of the game. Hopefully, we'll compete for 4 quarters this year. But, we have long ways to go. I'm sure Maryville will be there for game 14, but will we? I do look forward to the GC game next year. It will be a great gate/atmosphere for sure. I've been to many games at GC over the years and have enjoyed them greatly. I do commend your AD for scheduling us.
